Lee Guthrie

An interest in violins evolved from playing old-time southern fiddle music. Further experience and training in the craft of bow making then led to huge success with many of his bows being played by some of the best players in the world. A couple of his clients include Guy Braunstein, Concertmaster Berlin Philharmonic, and Internationally renowned soloist Sarah Chang.

“I continue to serve musicians around the world and am happy to be working in a trade that is tremendously satisfying and infinitely challenging. I'll never learn all there is about this fascinating craft, which insures a never-ending interest in it.” Lee Guthrie

Lee's fascination and goal is to match the bow to the musician and the instrument and for the musician to be completely happy. In order to achieve excellent playing qualities and bows which have the ability to produce the full, beautiful sound required by both soloists and orchestra members, he ensures use of the finest materials available.

Testimonials:

"The qualities of Lee's bows that give confidence are those found in any fine French bow: strength, refinement and purity of tone, and superb craftsmanship. I would recommend them to any serious artist."

Cardiff Violins Testimonial:
I am absolutely delighted with Lee's bow - superb craftsmanship and what a sound it effortlessly draws out from my violin( 2005 Martin Schwalb, Vienna) I felt right at home with this bow almost from the moment I picked it up and the rich , creamy tone is a vast improvement from my old bow. It projects the sound wonderfully too. I have never enjoyed playing quite this much. Many thanks!”
